Welcome to Phlegm Master blog my name is Royston (a nickname) but my friends call me Royston and my family call me Royston (why do they do this). After swearing I’d never create a lifestyle blog, I swear again and started writing this, which I guess you could call a lifestyle blog.  I’m not trying to be an influencer or anything, I’m not that cool. I’m never cool, I’m just cold. At least I always seem to have one, I guess it comes with the territory and a streaming nose and a headache , sore throat, sometimes chest pain see NHS online. 

Anyhow the aim of this blog is to talk about whatever comes into my mind as I really just need to write but those things will subjects around trying to live well with a long term respiratory illness, my hobbies but also they will be posts about popular culture as a I’m fan of movies, books, tv and music. I might also talk about current affairs if I have the energy. Feel free to stick around or you can electronically walk away but not before reading a few posts I hope. And why wouldn’t we as a lot of the time we are battling to survive whether that be managing our conditions and fighting to receive or to maintain the support needed to meet our needs in everyday life.   The Energy Game  I’m a few years into this life game, let's just say more than a couple of decades in, thankfully and my energy levels aren’t what they used to be. I’m what some people call a neck breather, or repository challenged, chronically breathing challenged, a trachsmith-  take your pick. When I was younger I never used to think I had a chronic illness. I always described myself as a disabled person and have been lifelong disabled, I think I have more than a few neurological and neurodiverse issues as well although, I have no official diagnosis of neurodiversity. I have ongoing mental health issues but I’ve never really seen my selfie as chronically ill or as some in the chronic illness community would define themselves as spoonies (see an explanation here https://www.thebraincharity.org.uk/whats-spoon-theory/ ). Chronic cough

  No it’s not covid. Well it might be, take that test. No tis the season to be snotty or if you’re a chronic breather that’s every or just every day. Get those flu jabs if you believe in them. I can never get one when I ring my doctors although I should be first in the cue. Truth be told last time I actually got the flu jab I ended up was the last time I got the flu so make of that what you will. Even so wrap up warm and if you’re inclined get the old jab. Find you favourite blanket, boxset and in your downtime give ourself permission to relax as a chronic breather, spoonie or however you wish to identify. We have to give ourselves permission to relax as a lot of us have guilt about low productivity when our bodies savage (cause we all know we chose this obviously) but unfortunately my fellow chronics for some of us head gremlins are part of the battle too.
